SOPHOMORE QUARTER BACK DAMON GRIFFIN HAS 5-0 COLUMBUS SOUTH ROLLING TOWARDS CITY LEAGUE TITLE

Columbus Ohio- Since the arrival of Coach George Yates II the South Bulldogs have been slowly laying the foundation brick by brick, player by player with the goal to become a competitive successful football program. The past few seasons have notably been the turning point with the bulldogs knocking off several unexpected opponents and no longer being viewed as an easy dub.
This year's team is no doubtingly one of the most talented squads Coach Yates has had during his tenure as Head coach of the Bulldogs, with several talented upperclassmen as well as some of the area's premier young players such as 2025 (QB/DB) Damon Griffith.
Griffin who is an exceptional 2 sport athlete (football/basketball) who mainly played on special teams and in the secondary in 2021, was moved over to the QB spot this season after Coach Yates and Coach Morgan saw something special in his ability to run and pass.
The 2025 QB who hadn't played the position since little league, has been putting up big time numbers in route to leading Cols South to 5-0 and in the mix for a City League title. When asked about the vibe within the school, the poised sophomore spoke of how the student-body and the community has a sense of electricity about the team because what they've been able to accomplish, but also understands that the mission isn't yet complete. " We're happy for the support but we have to keep working, playing one game at a time" says Griffin. Another big play guy for the bulldogs is Sr (SL/DB) Da'shawn Simmons who played QB in 2021, is one of the city's most gifted playmakers and making the switch has definitely been a plus for the Bulldogs freeing up Simmons into one-on-one situations that the Senior receiver has dominated thus far this season.
The 3rd of the 3 headed monster for the bulldogs is senior running back Sevon Taylor who is pound for pound one of the toughest backs in the city and has been a hand full for opposing Defenses. The Bulldogs who have a host of other talented players that have been contributing to the team's success like Jr (WR) Maurice McCall, Sr (LB) Desean Pollard Jr and Defensive Linemen JD Tatum have all been big keys for the Bulldogs Dominant start thus far.
This Thursday South will look to remain undefeated on homecoming and senior night as the Bulldogs host Columbus Independence in a prime-time City League match-up that has playoff implications, and ohioeliteprep.com will be on hand!
